Free camping on the Gold Coast is near impossible to find. However, if you are prepared to drive only an hour inland, then Spring Gully Campground is camping perfection.
Spring Gully Stays is one of those places that just sticks with you. Perfect camping with wide open spaces, a picturesque swimming creek, dogs permitted and open fires are allowed.
We recommend staying mid-week if you want to find yourself alone. Even on weekends, you won’t find overcrowding issues like many caravan parks.
For $20 per night, its priced perfectly for a cheap weekend getaway or extended family camping holiday.
The campgrounds are sectioned into two.
- Powered sites with facilities
- Non-powered basic facilities (Portaloo only)
Powered sites have toilets, washing up facilities and are located close the main entertainment area. We chose to camp over in the non-powered site area as we were self-contained and preferred to be camping right beside the creek.
The creek water is clean enough to collect and use for washing, but you will need to bring your own drinking water.
Located just out of Spring Gully town means that food and alcohol supplies are not too far.
Highly recommended and we cannot wait to go back again.
